Isfahan has been the center for Persian rug production since the 16th century. Their well established reputation resulted in the city being respectfully referred to as “City of Art”. Additionally, Isfahan is well known for it’s classic Islamic architectural designs. Indeed, many of the antique Isfahan Persian rug designs are inspired by the Islamic architecture found in the city. However, this tree design is rare. It is an improvisation from the traditional “tree of life” designs and it was one of the first rugs produced at the end of the Afghan occupation during the 19th century.
Our beautiful antique Isfahan Persian rug features a 90% silk 10% wool ratio with a very fine 900-1000 kpsi. The signature of the weaver is woven into the base of the rug in classic Isfahan style.
